Tryouts
Walk in tryouts are available during regular EMU Club Soccer practices.
Please contact Sateesh Kotturi at drkotturi@gmail.com for details.
Location:
EMU Soccer Fields (Next to EMU Football stadium)
Funding & Fees:
The club soccer program is given a small budget from the University, but it will not cover all the necessary expenses to run the program. So, players are asked to fundraise money (Tshirt sales,Sponsorship,EMU Football games concessions, etc.) during the season in order to pay for travel, field fees, ref fees, etc... Once a player is selected to any of the club teams they will be asked to pay a participation fee of approx $250. However, by the end of the season you will be able to take home a majority of the new equipment you wear during the season to help offset the costs. Keep in mind enough fundraising will be provided to help offset 100% of your costs if you wish to participate in it. Unfortunately, scholarships are not available through the club soccer program.
NIRSA Eligibility Guidelines:
All members of a team must be enrolled atleast half of full-time enrollment as an undergraduate (atleast 6 credit hours) or atleast 4 credits as a graduate student at the institution they represent, during the term/semester of the championships. If you have a player(s) that is a graduating senior, and taking less than the required hours to fulfill their graduation requirements, please submit a letter from the registrar stating that fact. Current professional players (anytime during the calendar year 2007) or current NCAA or NAIA varsity players (2006-2007) are not eligible to participate. Teams are limited to no more than 3 former varsity or former semi-pro athletes on their roster. A varsity athlete is defined as: A student who by definition of the college/university's athletic department has been listed on the school's active varsity roster for an NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA college/university team in at least one scheduled athletic contest. The exception to this rule will be student's who's only year of activity was as a redshirt. They will not count as a former varsity athlete. Eligibility and student status must be verified and recorded on the Player Certification Form ONLY. All participants will be eligible for six (6) continuous years (effective 1996) of eligibility in the NIRSA Sport Club Championships. Year one begins the first year their name appears on a NIRSA roster OR the first year they played on an NCAA, NAIA or Jr. College Varsity team. This policy began in 1996, so the earliest it would be effective would be 2002.
